Selective medium recommended for the isolation and identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The cetrimide inhibits bacteria other than Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The cetrimide agar promotes the production of piocianina and pioverdina in cultures of pseudomonas aeruginosa which can be considered as presumptive proof for its identification.
MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTROL
The following results were obtained from type cultures after incubation at a temperature of 35 ± 2ºC and observed after 18-24 hours.
Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 ......................... Inhibited growth
Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 ............ Good growth
Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 ...................... Inhibited growth
