Medium pink in colour and neutral pH, recommended for the selective isolation of yeasts and molds. The presence of bengal rose inhibits bacterial growth and limits the size of molds, preventing colonies with slow growth being hidden by those which grow rapidly.
MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTROL
The following results were obtained from type cultures, after incubation at a temperature of 25-30 ºC for at least 5 days.
Candida albicans ATCC 10231 ....................... Good growth / Aspect of colony: Pink, smooth, bulky
Aspergillus Níger ATCC 1015 ......................... Good growth / Aspect of colony: White, fibrous, turning black
Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 ......................... Inhibited growth / Aspect of colony: --
